Visas for students from non-EU countries
Students from non-EU countries are requested to obtain visa in order to be able to come to Lithuania. College of Social Sciences assists students by mediating with Lithuania Embassies abroad so that students will go through the process easier and smoother.
Residence Permit
In case students are interested in extending their studies longer than 6 months, they are required to fill in the „Application for Issuance of Temporary Residence Permit in the Republic of Lithuania“. The college provides more information accordingly to the request and necessity, as well as mediates in this procedure to help students.
Health Insurance
The international students are requested to bring their home medical insurance in the event that hospital treatment is needed. The sum of insurance should not be less than 30.000 euro.
Minimal expenses
The student must ensure prior to the arrival to Lithuania that his/her financial condition is satisfactory to live in Lithuania. According to Lithuanian legislation, minimum expenses to live in Lithuania a month is not less than 350 Litas. However, this amount does not satisfy foreigners, who have to accommodate themselves. To formalize Temporary Residence Permit foreign students are required to have enough finance to live in Lithuania for a year.
Accommodation
The college does not own or administer any dormitories or students’ hostels. However, we do have contacts and agreements with other higher education institutions administering dormitories or we do help students to find accommodation. Please note that average rent pay for a flat is not less than 450Lt (usually varying from 300Lt to 600Lt depending on the conditions). Additionally, students have to pay bills for utilities (electricity, gas, warming, etc.).
Currency
Lithuania’s national currency is Litas (Lt). Paper notes are circulated in 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 Lt. bills and 1, 2, and 5 Lt. coins. Local payments are made in national currency – Litas and Cents. (1 Litas = 100 cents), 1 Euro – 3.4528 Lt.
