CSS ERASMUS Days

Commemorating European Volunteering Year 2011 and encouraging internationalism and tolerance, EESF together with the European Parliament Information Office in Lithuania are implementing a new initiative - "ERASMUS for the Lithuanian Schools".

The aim of this initiative is to encourage volunteer activity of college students in the high schools: to visit Lithuania high schools and share their experience in living in a foreign country, choosing their major and deciding to participate in the educational exchange programme. At the same time the college students will focus high school students' attention on fostering EU values, such as respect to the multiculturalism, equal rights and protection of human rights.

By supporting EU volunteering actions, the College of Social Sciences, have organized ""CSS ERASMUS days".

20 present and former CSS ERASMUS students have visited Klaipeda city and region high schools and gymnasiums and have presented the benefits of ERASMUS programme. During the meetings the students have shared their knowledge and cultural experienced they gained, whereas the students have heard about the advantages of the educational mobility.

During the ERASMUS week, 11 foreign ERASMUS students from Switzerland,
Turkey, Germany, Italy and Romania, who are presently studying in
Vilnius branch of CSS, visited Klaipeda.

Two international evenings "The Nations' Friendship Fire" took place in Vilnius and Klaipeda during "CSS ERAMUS Days", which were dedicated towards developments of global values, and knowing traditions, customs of other cultures, as well as creation of good and friendly intercultural relationships.

The representatives from CSS have visited Zemyna gymnasium, The First Silute gymnasium, Vydunas high school, Klaipeda region, Priekule I. Simonaityte gymnasium.

The project "ERASMUS for the Lithuania Schools" events are foreseen to continue in Vilnius by visiting city's high schools and gymnasiums.
