Study aim

The aim of Programming and Multimedia study programme is to prepare the IT specialists of high qualification, who are able to apply knowledge acquired in an area of mathematics and physical sciences while designing, exploiting and administrating computer systems, creating applied programmes, multimedia and/or online media products.

In the Programming and Multimedia study programme students acquire knowledge and competences, necessary for creating and testing applied programmes, creating and maintaining online networks, multimedia technology analysis, designing and creating. Multimedia technologies are used in all business, teaching, media, medicine, virtual communication and entertainment sectors.

Learning outcomes

After graduating from the studies, a person:

  • Will be able to apply the fundamental basic knowledge and skills of physical and social sciences, necessary in order to creatively and responsibly implement professional activity.
  • Will be able to apply the knowledge of computer hardware and software, necessary in order to model and design the means of human and computer interaction.
  • Will be able to analyze the needs of potential customers and users of software, necessary in order to design and introduce programme systems in various fields of activity.
  • Will be able to apply the mechanisms of operational systems, web equipment management and protection in order to ensure the safety of information.
  • Will be able to apply digit methods and algorithms, mathematical, statistical, data collection and analysis methods, necessary in order to determine the need for programme systems and their components.
  • Will be able to apply analysis and modeling methods and means of information processing when designing programme systems.
  • Will be able to apply programme design principles, requirements, programming languages, when developing programme products.
  • Will be able to develop and manage databases, through application of database management systems.
  • Will be able to develop applied programmes, webpages, products of multimedia and animation, corresponding to the needs of organizations.
  • Will be able to apply testing methods, when doing independently the works of programme system development and maintenance.
  • Will be able to apply the principles of computer graphics and information visualization, multimedia technologies when developing programme systems.
  • Will be able to assess the made decisions on the development of programme systems on legal, economic, safety and technological approach.
  • Will be able to apply thee knowledge, means and skills of law, communication, technology management when working in a team and communicating with customers.
  • Will be able to assess one’s professional activity, knowledge and experience, to foresee the trends of self-expression and self-development, and to develop one’s professionalism in a constantly changing society.

Study curriculum

General course units of studies: Professional Communication, Communication Psychology, Basics of Law, Basics of Management and Economics, Intellectual Property Law, Entre,Entrepreneurship and etc.

Course units of the study field: Professional Foreign Language (English), Mathematics, Basics of Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Computer Architecture and Operation Systems, Computer Graphic Design, Object Programming, Web Design and Programming, Data Bases, Multimedia Technologies, Computer Statistics, Interactive Multimedia, 3D Modelling and Visualisation, Programme System Engineering, Programming with JAVA, Human and Computer Interaction, IT Project Management and Methodologies and etc.

Students perform two professional activity internships (training and final internships).

Optional course units for deepening knowledge of the study field: Students may choose from study field knowledge deepening course units: Computer Game Programing/Artificial Intellect in Computer Games, Animation Creation/Animation and Sculpting of Cartoon Characters, Computer Graphics Programing/GIS and Python Programming

Elective course units (EUC):   Elective course units are appointed to interdisciplinary studies or educating general competencies from the list of college elective course units.

The study evaluation: Cumulative assessment and a ten-scale assessment system are applied. In subject and module programmes, concrete evaluation structural elements are foreseen, their weight in final evaluation, the content of concrete evaluation tasks, criteria and requirements. When applying cumulative assessment the learning outcomes are evaluated by interim assignments. Studies of each subject end with an examination. Student knowledge and skills are evaluated during the exam session only then, if during semester a student satisfies the requirements and tasks of interim evaluation foreseen in the programme of a course unit. Achieved results of study programme students demonstrate while Final thesis – programming project.
