Erasmus+ aims to strengthen the quality of youth work and non-formal learning for young people in Europe. It provides opportunities for young people to experience learning mobility in Europe and beyond and for youth workers to develop their interpersonal skills and improve their employment prospects through training and networking opportunities in Europe and beyond.

SMK University of Applied Social Sciences has signed more than 85 cooperation agreements with foreign Higher Education Institutions (on the basis of bilateral “Erasmus+“ agreements).

Erasmus+ offers for SMK students studies abroad, placements in enterprises, university staff teaching and training, and it funds co-operation projects between higher education institutions across Europe.

Erasmus+ programme competition is being announced twice a year: in spring and fall semesters (October and March).

Erasmus+ programme allows the SMK students to learn a foreign language and improve cultural knowledge, promote cooperation and enrich the education of students receiving them in international environment that allows the expansion of overseas experience.

ERASMUS+ programme supports:

  • 3 - 12 months mobility for studies abroad at the Higher Education Institutions.
  • 2 - 12 months mobility for internships at the foreign enterprises.

Health Insurance and Visa International students are required to have medical insurance. Non-EU students are required to obtain visas to enter Lithuania. The SMK International Relations Department assists students in completing all the procedures by mediating with the Lithuanian embassies abroad.

After admission students are provided with the Letter of Acceptance and the information package which is usually sent to the student's permanent address within 3 weeks after the receipt of application documents.

Orientation Week

Every start of the semester we welcome new students from various parts of the world. In order to make their transition easy and fun we organise an Orientation week full of fun and interesting activities, which makes new comers feel like at home, meet new friends, get to know SMK better and of course be safer in the city. Orientation is a very important aspect of beginning studies here, especially for students who are coming from very far and are not familiar at all with the local culture.

International Wellcome

We welcome you to Lithuania and to SMK University of Applied Sciences. Here all new students will receive a full support in order to make arrival to SMK easy and stress free. Every new student will be appointed a Student Mentor who will start communicating long before the arrival and assist in preparation for living and studying in Lithuania.  Before the start of every semester we are holding an Orientation session during which you will have the opportunity to get to know SMK life and prepare to spend your next three years in Lithuania. With plenty of activities and seminars this time will help you to get introduced to Lithuanian study system, SMK study regulations, comfortable and safe living in Vilnius and much more. Erasmus partners according study programmes

 

Students, who want to participate in Erasmus+ programme have to fill in Erasmus+ online application and submit together with other required documents.
All participants must participate in the organised selection interview for studies/internship abroad under the Erasmus+ programme. Final selection is made ​​by the commission during the meeting, taking the study results and activity in SMK community life into consideration.
Priority is provided for those, who:

  • apply to such foreign university, which offers opportunities to plan a programme of study consistent with the student’s study plan at the SMK;
  • have concrete and reasonable motivation;
  • have good foreign language skills;
  • have good academic results;
  • do not have financial debts.


Reports

International student mobility has led to a rapid pace of the student-mentor programme development at SMK. SMK students have established the ESN SMK (Erasmus Student Network) organisation, which from 2013 is a member of ESN Lithuania section. At the moment there are around 20 SMK students involved in this SMK network, which complies with the student-mentor programme and takes care of the incoming Erasmus students and international students pursuing a degree here.
