To train Tourism and Recreation business specialists, who are able to establish and manage a tourism business independently, to implement tourism projects, to organise hotel activities, to act responsibly in the national and international tourism markets.

Learning outcomes

A graduate of studies will be able:

  • to apply the theories and concepts of economy, management, business, law, tourism and other social sciences while organising tourism business processes and hotel activities;
  • to apply knowledge about tourism forms and types, tourism products and hotel services, hospitality standards, tourism business establishment and development;
  • to carry out research of tourism business environment, market and company activity, and assessment of resource demand and suitability, seeking to justify the solutions of tourism and hotel business organising and development;
  • independently and/or cooperating in a team to create the supply of tourism products oriented to customers with different needs and of different cultures while applying principles of hospitality, assurance of the quality of services and entrepreneurship;
  • to manage service sales processes of tourism and hotel sector in global business environment;
  • to prepare and implement tourism and hotel business projects taking into consideration available resources, tendencies of tourism service development;
  • to use effectively tourism information technologies while organising tourism and hotel activities, and while aiming to modernise the provision of tourism services;
  • to apply internal, external and intercultural communication models, team work principles in the processes of tourism business organising and communicating with customers;
  • responsibly and securely implement a professional activity, by following the norms of ethics, law and safety that regulate provision of tourism and accommodation services.
  • to evaluate systemically own professional activity, knowledge and experience, to foresee directions of self-expression and self-development, as well as develop own professionalism while performing in changing business environment.

Study curriculum

General course units of studies: Business Communication; Information Technologies; Fundamentals of Law; Personal Management and Career  and etc.

Course units of the study field: Management, Economics, Tourism Recourses and Geography, Finance and Accounting, Professional Foreign Language, Intercultural Communication, Fundamentals of Tourism, Tourism Law and Safety, Hospitality Services, Marketing, Creation of Tourism Product and Pricing, Sales Management, Tourism Business, Social Research Methodology, Organisation of Travel,  Organisation of Hotels Processes, Tourism Information Systems, Tourism Project Management, Catering Services, Course Paper and etc. Students perform training and final professional internships, the total volume of which is 32 credits.

Optional course units for deepening knowledge of the study field: Students may choose from study field knowledge deepening course units: Eco-tourism / Health Tourism / Health Resort Science, International Hotel Networks / Tour Guiding Methods / Alternative Accommodation Forms, Customer Management / Crisis Management / Events Organisation, Business Tourism / Conference Tourism / Recreation Tourism.

Elective course units (EUC): Elective course units are appointed to interdisciplinary studies or educating general competencies from the list of college elective course units.

The study evaluation: Cumulative assessment and a ten-scale assessment system are applied. In subject and module programmes, concrete evaluation structural elements are foreseen, their weight in final evaluation, the content of concrete evaluation tasks, criteria and requirements. When applying cumulative assessment the learning outcomes are evaluated by interim assignments. Studies of each subject end with an examination. Student knowledge and skills are evaluated during the exam session only then, if during semester a student satisfies the requirements and tasks of interim evaluation foreseen in the programme of a course unit. Achieved results of Tourism and Hotels study programme students demonstrate while defending thesis.
